AC - AC Voltage/Frequency Converters
These converters can be designed in a number of forms, but in all cases can be either single or three phase input or output.
Aircraft 115V / 230V AC steady state (400Hz) or Variable Frequency (360 - 800Hz) to domestic 110 / 115V AC 60Hz and/or 220/240V AC 50Hz to allow direct powering of domestic equipment from the aircraft derived power.
Aircraft 115V / 230V AC variable frequency (360 - 800Hz) to 115V - 230V AC fixed frequency 400Hz - typical applications: fuel pumps, actuators.
DC - DC Converter
These converters take aircraft, vehicle or ship derived DC power and provide a pre-determined steady state DC output.
The Typhoon DC750 is an example of this product in situ; it is designed to maintain a 28V DC output from an input that can be as low as 9V; this is primarily to maintain the DC critical bus during APU start from the main aircraft battery.
AC - DC Converter
These converters take aircraft, vehicle or ship derived AC power and provide a steady state high or low DC voltage output; typically ±270VDC, however various values can be achieved.
