Bespoke Products and Services

Ferranti Technologies is able to assume the responsibility for a customer's product at any stage of its life cycle; from initial concept to through life support.

Engineering

The company's in-house team of high calibre design engineers is truly multi-disciplinary and has the ability to turn customer requirement specifications into prototype hardware in extremely short timescales, whilst maintaining a keen eye on ease of production and associated costs. These prototypes can be qualified in-house and transitioned into production with minimum risk.

Expertise covers electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical system design and software implementation. The design team employs the most modern facilities and equipment including Pro-Engineer 3D CAD, NISA Finite Element,  Licom CAM, CADSTAR PCB Layout and Milstress Reliability Analysis Tool.

Manufacture

The company undertakes a range of manufacturing contracts, including precision electro-mechanical assembly in a class 10000 clean room when appropriate. Capabilities include:

  • Printed circuit board assembly
  • Module, distribution panel and cabinet assembly and wiring
  • System integration and commissioning
  • Cable looming and UV laser marking
  • ATE, STTE and DITMCO testing
  • Precision electro-mechanical assembly
  • CNC machining

Environmental Test

Ferranti Technologies operates a UKAS approved environmental test facility in support of its commercial, defence and aerospace activities. Design qualification testing and product 'burn-in' can be performed on behalf of customers as part of an overall design or manufacturing project. Environmental testing is also offered to customers as a service in its own right.

Customer Support

Ferranti Technologies prides itself on delivering high quality solutions engineered to operate in the most rugged of environments. Furthermore, with in-service life often required to exceed 25 years, long term support is essential. The company's comprehensive design to manufacture capability permits support beyond the provision of spares and repairs alone, encompassing obsolescence management and design evolution in line with changes in technology, market needs and legislative requirements.
