Ferranti Technologies has been awarded the Nadcap AC7120 Electronics, Full Service Accreditation at its manufacturing site based in Oldham, UK.
Nadcap, (formerly NADCAP – the National Aerospace and Defence Contractors Accreditation Program) provides independent certification of manufacturing processes for aerospace engineering, defence and related industries.
The Nadcap AC7120 audit checklist was used as the baseline standard and formed a good catalyst to challenge the systems and processes within the business.
Paul J Cox, Organisational Improvement Manager, who led the Nadcap AC7120 work stream said; “Process Control within our operations area is key to our commitment towards continuously improving the quality of the products we make for our customers.
The Nadcap AC7120 checklist itself has 24 sections and over 300 sub sections. Every question must be fully covered by clear documented procedures and also demonstrate compliance to that documentation”
Roger Gaskell – Business Unit Director for Manufacturing & Support Solutions said; “Organisations within the Aerospace and Defence industry are under increasing pressure to comply with extensive and rigorous quality and safety control standards.
Nadcap is no exception, the journey has undoubtedly had its challenges, but it is difficult to argue against its intent, taking into account the safety critical nature of the products that we manufacture for our customers.”
Ferranti Technologies, rather than resting on its laurels, is building on this success. There is no end to the quality challenge and the policy deployment for the coming years features a clear focus on quality improvement as a key strategy for success.
