Embedded Virtual Training

Ferranti Technologies are able to install on-board real-time simulation in both aircraft and helicopters. This enables embedded virtual training in airborne live aircraft through the provision of a simulated environment of virtual targets, virtual sensor systems and/or virtual weapons. This system, known as Embedded Virtual Avionics (EVA), is able to inject operationally realistic data that can be seen on aircraft displays, and to provide weapon effects from virtual weapons. EVA is able to simulate:

  • Virtual Radar and EW systems
  • Virtual Air-to-Air Missiles
  • Virtual Air-to-Ground Weapons

EVA enables combat aircraft to undertake realistic, ‘range less’ airborne mission training using the aircraft’s actual systems, and dispensing or firing virtual weapons. Targets can be virtual (Computer Generated Forces (CGF)) or, through the use of datelines, live. EVA can also enhance training aircraft by providing simulated sensors and weapons. This allows operational training to be downloaded from expensive combat aircraft to less costly training aircraft types.

EVA can be combined with our Head Mounted Display systems, allowing virtual targets, virtual chaff & flare dispensing and virtual missiles to be ‘seen’ by aircrew.

Aircraft with EVA can also be networked with Ground Based Simulators, allowing simulated aircraft to training with real aircraft within the same mission scenario – providing the most advanced Live, Virtual and Constructive training experience available on the market today.
